General Questions
- Who can apply for MEU Tallinn 2018?
Anyone between 18 and 30 years old, from all countries worldwide. We welcome people who have never taken part in MEU simulations before as well as more experienced participants. Also, you don’t need to study or work in a field related to the European Union.
- Is it possible to take part in MEU Tallinn 2018 without being a student?
Of course! You don’t have to be a student to join us.
- When is MEU Tallinn 2018 taking place?
MEU Tallinn 2018 will take place from July 21 until July 28, 2018.
- Is it possible to choose which country I will represent or which political group I will be part of during the simulation?
The content team decides who will represent which country and who will be part of which political group. It is not possible for you to pick your preferred country nor political group. Also, you will not represent your country of citizenship. However, you have to pick two preferred topics during the application process and we do our best to comply with your preferences.
- Is it possible to form a delegation to take part in the simulation?
No, the format of MEU Tallinn does not support delegations, you have to apply individually.
- What is the official language of MEU Tallinn?
The entire simulation will be held in English, which is the official language of the simulation. We therefore recommend you to apply only if you have at least an intermediate level in English (European level B1 minimum). However, we do not ask for any certification of your level in English.
- I need a specific diet/I have allergies. Is this a problem?
Of course not! Everyone is welcome at MEU Tallinn and we will do our best to respect all food requirements. Once you have been selected, don’t hesitate to contact us if you have more questions about this.
Participation Fee
- How much is the participation fee and what does it cover?
To take part in MEU Tallinn 2018, you will have to pay for the participation which is 95€. This fee is non-refundable and it has to be paid prior to the event. It covers the accomodation, breakfasts and lunches , the social events (Eurofeast, farewell party, welcoming dinner and the discussion afternoon), coffee breaks and all materials necessary for the simulation (printed proposals, content booklet, participants’ guide, etc.).
- How can I pay for the participation fee?
You can pay via bank transfer and via Paypal. We will send the banking details to all selected participants in due time. If your bank charges too much for transfers via Paypal and via the usual bank transfer, please contact us so that we can discuss other solutions.
- In case I have to cancel, is the participation fee refundable?
Unfortunately we can’t refund any participation fee. Please contact us quickly if you have to cancel your participation.
- Do I have to pay for the entire participation fee even though I live in Tallinn?
Yes, since the accomodation is only a small part of the entire participation fee. We do not offer discounts for Tallinn residents. However, please inform us once you are selected if you do not need a room during the simulation.
Visa
- Is a visa necessary to come to Estonia?
If you come from the European Union (EU), the European Economic Area (EEA) or if you have a residence permit of a Schengen State, you do not need a visa to enter Estonia. Nationals from countries that have a visa agreement with the Schengen Area and/or Estonia are also exempted from requesting a visa to enter Estonia for short periods of time. - What happens if I need a visa to enter Estonia?
Once you are selected, please inform us about this as soon as possible. We will send you an official invitation letter for your visa application.
