MEU Tallinn 2016 took place from August 21st until August 27th.
The 5th edition of MEU Tallinn gathered 80 young Europeans from 35 countries.
Three proposals were discussed, following the three main themes of EU-Ukraine relations, the refugee crisis and the Energy Union policy. The following proposals were amended and voted during the simulation:
- A directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the promotion of the use of energy from renewable sources (ENV);
- A regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council establishing a relocation mechanism and amending Regulation (EU) No 604/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 26 June 2013 (JHA);
- A Council decision on the Union position within the Association Council established by the Association Agreement between the European Union, the European Atomic Energy Community and its Member States, of the one part and Ukraine, of the other part with regard to the adoption of a Recommendation on the implementation of the EU-Ukraine Association Agenda (FAC).
A discussion evening was organised on the topic of EU-Ukraine relations, with the kind participation of Emmet Touhy (senior research fellow at the Estonian Centre for Eastern Partnership), Raimo Poom (journalist, head of international news at Eesti Päevaleht) and Vlad Alex Vernygora (lecturer at the Tallinn University of Technology, School of Economics and Business Administration).
